Jawatan Kosong Finas - Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional - FINAS is the result of decisions made by the National Film Development Committee set up by the government on July 26 1980untuk devising ways to promote the film industry in Malaysia.

The recommendations of the National Film Development Committee, National Film Development Corporation (or FINAS), founded in 1981, and began beoperasi in Jalan Ampang then moved to Merdeka Studio Complex, Hulu Kelang on December 19, 1988, Tan Sri Abdul Samad Idris Firnas chairman.

Starting from the date of December 27, 2004, FINAS then placed under the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage of Malaysia and is the agency of the Ministry of Culture Arts & Heritage Unity began in 2008. Beginning in April 2008 FINAS placed under the Ministry of Information, Communications and Culture.
