Jawatan Kosong MDL - Majlis Daerah Labis was established on 1 September 1979 under section 3 of the Local Government Act 1976 - Act 171. Establishment was gazetted on October 9, 1980 by the Public Prosecutor No. 26, Volume 24 21 as follows:

• Area as indicated by the Gazette Plan (PW) in 1265 with an area of 47.26 square miles of 122.4 square kilometers or 12,240 hectares.
  
• Date of adoption of the Local Government Act 1976 - Act 171 is coincident with the date of the establishment of MDSS ie on 1 September 1979.
  
• Application of this Act is consistent with the requirements of section 2 (1) of the same Act and was gazetted on 30 August 1979 by the Government Gazette of 68 public prosecutor.
  
• The launch of the establishment of the MDL has been done by the deputy Minister of Johor on 29 December 1976 at the Diamond Jubilee Segamat.
  

MDL originally consisted of five local councils: Melot, Chaah, Sungai Karas, Ayer Panas and Labis. All local councils have been imprinted on January 1, 1977 under section 10 of the Local Government Act (Temporary Provisions) Act 1973 - Act 124. Merger or consolidation has been gazetted under Government Gazette 23 prosecutors and prosecutors 24. A Management Board has been appointed to administer all Local Council has noted this. Listings of local councils known by the name of Labis District Council. This merger was done on an administrative basis. It was managed by a Board of Managers. Proclamation under section 3 of the Local Government Act 1976 has allowed MDL lists all of the physical area that is also taking into account the half-mile (40 chains) or 0.8km from the left and right sides of the main road as MDL, as indicated by the Gazette Plan 1265 . At the same time MDL has expanded its expansion by adding two more by entering the Station Calm and Paddy made all seven areas, namely: -

• Chaah
  
• Sungai Karas
  
• Ayer Panas
  
• Labis
  
• Tenang Station
  
• Sawah Padi
