Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia - USIM is a Malaysia's first Islamic University was established by the Malaysian Government at the beginning of the 21st century. It is a public institution of higher 12th in the country and registered in the name of Islamic Science University of Malaysia (formerly known as Islamic University Malaysia). Between the purpose of the establishment of USIM are to uphold Islamic education and bringing them into the mainstream of education and emphasizes the use of information technology in teaching and research. Arabic and English language proficiency as well as the national language is also a focus.
In order to ensure that goal accomplished, USIM set limited enrollment so that students can be given a special focus to build competency, ability and discipline and a strong belief among students.
USIM now has 8 faculties:
- Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah (FPQS)
- Faculty of Leadership and Management (FKP)
- Faculty of Shariah and Law (FSU)
- Faculty of Economics and Muamalat (FEM)
- Faculty of Science and Technology (FST)
- Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS)
- Faculty of Major Languages (FPBU)
- Faculty of Dentistry (FPG)
In addition, the USIM also focuses on graduate level studies. Is planned for 40 percent of the student enrollment is graduate candidates. This means that apart from the responsibility of educating, USIM also become a major research institutions in strengthening core areas of study.
