Jawatan Kosong MPBP - Majlis Perbandaran Batu Pahat (MPBP) - The history of Bandar Penggaram administration began in 1911 when a system of parallelism was introduced. Following the enforcement of Town Board Enactment 1911 that provided a more pronounced authority to all Lembaga Bandaran (City Board), the Lembaga Bandaran Bandar Pengaram (Bandar Penggaram City Board) was established a year after, which was in year 1912. Ungku Ahmad bin Mohd Khalid who was at that time serving as Batu Pahat District Government Commissioner was appointed to serve concurrently as Town Board President. Since then, Bandar Penggaram continues to expand and upon fulfillment of the prescribed justification and criteria, it was promoted to a Municipal Council status in June 2001 and finally konwn as Batu Pahat Municipal Council.
Initially, Bandar Penggaram City Board administration area only covers a small sector. However, its administration area was extended from time to time. In year 1925, Pekan Senggarang administration was listed under Bandar Penggaram City Board monitoring and until 1933, areas administered comprised of Pekan Semerah, Pekan Chaah, Pekan Sri Gading, Pekan Air Hitam and Pekan Parit Sulong.
With the enforcement of Ordinan Pilihanraya Tempatan (Local Election Ordinance) in 1950, Bandar Penggaram City Board’s status was promoted to Bandar Penggaram City Council in 1952 and in the following year, the first local election was held. At that time, a total of 9 council members were selected via election, 3 were appointed by the State Government and 4 ex-officio members.
On 1st November 1976, with the enforcement of Akta Kerajaan Tempatan 1976 (Akta 171) [Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171)], Bandar Penggaram City Board was reshuffled and its administration was divided into two; Majlis Daerah Batu Pahat Barat (West Batu Pahat District Council) and Majlis Daerah Batu Pahat Timur (East Batu Pahat District Council).
With a rapid expansion and development, on 1st June 2001, West Batu Pahat District Council’s status was promoted to Batu Pahat Municipal Council. Batu Pahat Municipal Council’s area of administration at that time covers approximately 196,345.67 hectares of area with about 202,687 residents and 60% of them living in the city and small town area.
