Jawatan Kosong Tekun Nasional - Tabung Ekonomi Kumpulan Usahawan Niaga diambil - TEKUN is the best method of loan provided by the government for indigenous small entrepreneurs run or expand their business. The method adopted for the scheme facilitate small entrepreneurs to get loans.
The establishment of TEKUN Nasional was the outcome of the Penang Bumiputra Economic Convention resolution in 1994 that proposed a system which channels additional capital easily, quickly and with no encumbrance in its implementation in order to overcome business financing access problems for small Bumiputra entrepreneurs. In 1995, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has implemented a pilot project known as Tabung Ekonomi Kumpulan Usaha Niaga (TEKUN) in Penang. Next the pilot project was extended to Jeli, Kelantan in 1996 and to Besut, Terengganu in 1997.
Following the success of these pilot projects, the Government has decided to expand TEKUN project to throughout the country to benefit the small Bumiputera entrepreneurs. In order to carry out this responsibility, TEKUN Nasional Foundation was established and placed under the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development (MECD) on November 9, 1998 and commenced its operations on February 1, 1999.
In line with the current progress and modernisation flow, a rebranding and repositioning exercise was executed on 12 February 2008 with TEKUN Nasional Foundation being renamed as TEKUN Nasional, with a role that is more than just being a finance provider agency but is also involved in entrepreneurship development and support services.
Ensuing the restructuring of government administration on 1st April 2009, TEKUN Nasional is placed under the purview of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry.
